Alex Marino

Alex Marino

ALEX MARINO, born to artist Judy Granger and Vice President of Hughes Aircraft, Samuel Marino, creator of the Phoenix Missile. A native Californian, raised in Calabasas, Alex’s first adulation and admiration came from tennis. Being trained to become a tennis pro, something just wasn’t right. His aunt was Dorothy Granger, the actress, and his grandfather was dancer/actor Dick Granger, so at the age of eighteen, a year into UC Irvine, and after taking his first acting class, Alex abruptly decided he too would go after a showbiz career… and he did. With no training, he auditioned for the Public Service Announcement “It’s What’s Cool,” and got it, plus a nomination for the CINDY Award. Not turning back, forward he went with intensive training and, luckily, a series of commercials, for Ford, Fox Sports, Diesel Jeans, and music videos for Cher, Michel’le, Eddy Mitchell, playing characters from a college ball player, young lawyer, to a French Riviera gambler.

Alex began his producing career with the hit musical “Bessie and Good Friends,” starring Pat Hodges, followed by a successful production of “Memoirs of East St. Louis” starring Tymon Shipp. His elegance, discipline and swagger won over the L.A. audience and critics with his portrayal of Shel Silverstein’s “The Devil and Billy Markham,” parlaying to the role of Eric, one of the leads in the film “The Telemarketer’s 36 Hrs,” with Roscoe Lee Browne, Marian McCargo and Tracy Nelson. In 2011 he completed work on a handful of projects, all leading roles, including Lex Talionis, The Filmmaker, Plagarist Game, and Scofflaws. Alex currently owns and operates the Complete Actors Place in Sherman Oaks and is in pre-production on a feature film titled “Fault”.
